A Journey of Change
It is acknowledged that when dealing with change or uncertainty that people tend to be sentimental, have a tendency to develop their own perceptions of what may and what may not be, are attached to the familiar and what we are “used to” along with experiences that change is associated with a loss. Mostly there is a need for more information and specific detail.
In a workplace like Klerksdorp people are not frequently exposed to change, having the tendency to work at the same place for extensive periods of times. Families tend to settle and being different from large cities, there is a bigger reluctance to uproot the family. At MMHS there is a number of employees (about 15%) that worked in the company since its formation. This further constitute to a high level of personal ownership of seeing the hospital as “our place” and having a concern that this might be lost.
